Unless you are a professional working in IT, you may not be aware of what a data protection suite is or what Information Security Management System means. The aim of today’s article is to remove any mystery about data protections suites, why they are needed, how they are used, what they do, and where to find them.

What is an IT Security Manager?

Briefly, an IT Security Manager is a professional who works to keep an organization’s IT environment safe by protecting it against cyberattacks, breaches, malware, and other threats that compromise data, day-to-day functions, and privacy.

What is an Information Security Management System (ISMS)?

Also called a Data Protection Suite, ISMS is a series of software products combined into a bundle that comprehensively covers an organization’s data protection needs. Many of the products are cloud-based and can be managed remotely.

Who uses data protection suites?

In a nutshell, businesses responsible for protecting people’s sensitive data are typically the greatest users of data protection suites. Healthcare, Financial, Legal, Government, and IT Data Storage Industries often follow strict compliance requirements for data security and use data protection suites to ensure the best chances of security protection across the network.

What are the usual components of a data protection suite?

Most modern data protection suites include endpoint protection products, disaster recovery, data recovery and storage for physical, cloud, and virtual IT environments, remote monitoring and management, centralized management, real-time updates and management options and more. Furthermore, sought-after data protection suites are scalable and highly compatible with the current IT infrastructure.

What is the main benefit of using a data protection suite for a business?

New software is constantly being created to protect against the newest cyberintrusion hacks.  Because there are already so many software products required to achieve standard best practices for basic cybersecurity management, tech companies have created all-in-one packages to streamline the complicated process. These packages include all of the individual software products that are usually required as a baseline to protect today’s business environment.

Pros to using a data protection suite

Cost: Data Suite Protection bundles usually reduce costs. Separately purchasing each product is usually more expensive.

Time: Working with a data suite company helps IT Security Managers reduce the time involved with individual product research, the sales negotiation process, and the learning curve required in implementing and managing individual products.

Proprietary Software Integrations The individual software products of modern data protection suites are now being programmed to integrate with each other.  These integrations allow communication of product information that can be observed in a unified console dashboard. The dashboard enables IT Managers to see and manage the entire IT security environment easily and in real-time. Additionally, the updates of the individual programs are improving their functionality across the network as the programs become better at working and communicating with each other.

Business Software Integrations Beyond routine software solution integrations, sophisticated data protection suite products are further programmed to integrate with hundreds of existing business management software programs commonly used daily in business  – thus providing another layer of security across the network. Data protection companies like Kaseya are going beyond the routine products used in a modern data protection suite (data backup and recovery, continuous monitoring, RMM, EDR, MDR) to offer full business management platforms that integrate with the data suite.

For example, in addition to data protection products, Kaseya now offers a Professional Service Assistant (PSA) product that assists with project management, client billing, CRM, budget management, MSP tools for management and more through the IT complete Kaseya package. Using a Kaseya business management solution along with the Kaseya data suite improves security across the network. Another example is Kaseya’s Autotask Professional Services (PSA), which is specifically designed for Managed Service Providers, IT Management Tech Teams, and technology-based client management businesses. A few Autotask features are ticket management, automating workflow, billing, delivering services, and more. Autotask PSA can be purchased separately from the data suite or as an integrated add-on.

Improvements Many data protection suites are owned by large companies with the capital required to invest in software improvements to combat new cyberattack methods.

Cons to using a data protection suite

Products Not Needed Although a data protection suite provides the standard products used regularly to protect business IT environments, not all of these products may be needed in an organization. The organization may already use other products that work well, and not require the overlapping products included in the data protection suite.

Some IT Managers may prefer cherry-picking their cyber protection products. They may manage these individually or develop customized workarounds to integrate them so they work together. Some protection data suites, like Kaseya, offer software products in a bundle or as stand-alone products. Kaseya offers a data protection suite and a wide array of data protection products for purchase without investing in the data protection bundle.

Contracts Most companies offering data protection suites require long contracts or subscription plans, frequently set at one to three years. IT Managers who do not wish to commit to the terms of service for a software solution they have yet to test in their IT environment may need to make difficult decisions. www.RemoteDataBackups.com offers Kaseya products without requiring a contract. Contact sales@remotedatabackups.com for more information and quotes.

Onboarding Fees Onboarding fees for data protection suites can at times be so cost prohibitive they are often a deal breaker. RemoteDataBackups.com offers Kaseya 365 products free from onboarding fees or contracts.
